Sarah joined Malley & Co as a Lawyer in September 2014 and was appointed as an Associate in February 2016.
Her practice at Malley & Co is principally in the area of Relationship Property, where she represents clients from a variety of backgrounds. Her recent cases have included: trust-related issues; matters involving detailed and complex financial disclosure; issues of non-disclosure; and valuing complex business structures.
Sarah’s Family Law experience also includes: day-to-day care and contact disputes; applications under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of Child Abduction; Contracting Out Agreements; Divorce and Separation; and matters with international elements. Her cases regularly require appearances in the Family Court in Christchurch. In August 2015 she attended and completed a week-long intensive litigation skills programme run by the New Zealand Law Society.
Prior to joining Malley & Co Sarah spent seven years in practice in London, where she specialised in Family Law. Many of the cases she worked on involved complex financial issues, often representing clients from the media and entertainment industries, as well as bankers, lawyers, accountants and directors of global financial institutions. She was also involved in a number of high-conflict contact dispute cases and relocation matters. She regularly appeared in the Family Court and High Court in London.
Sarah has also been involved in a number of mediation cases and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including Collaborative Law.
Sarah is a member of the Family Courts Association and the Family Law Section of the New Zealand Law Society.
